Wendy Slauson

Mrs. Wendy has been teaching music for over 20 years. Music has always been a major part of her life. She began piano lessons at the age of 8. She grew up playing piano for her home church and accompanied choirs in the local area. She earned her Bachelors degree in Piano Performance at the University of Alabama and a Masters degree in Piano Performance/Pedagogy at the University of Houston. Wendy has made a career of bringing her love of music to others. She has a love for children that enables her to share the gift of music with them so that they may experience their own musical adventure. After graduate school, Wendy stayed in the Houston area and taught piano and Kindermusik at Mrs. Nancy’s Music and St. John’s School. She then returned to her home state of Alabama where she taught piano at Samford University’s Musical Prep Department and the Alabama School of Fine Arts. She has also been the accompanist for the Birmingham Children’s Choir, Birmingham Southern College’s and Samford University’s music departments. She also taught as a music teacher at Our Lady of the Valley School. Wendy has also been Junior Counselor for BMTA (Birmingham Music Teachers Association) for 3 years. In addition to Kindermusik, Wendy currently teaches piano at her home studio, Piano Oasis Academy. Wendy has felt a calling in her life to teach children of all ages and feels blessed by these many opportunities that have been set before her. When not in the classroom, Wendy enjoys going on outdoor adventures with her husband and two young boys. She is also an active member and keyboardist at her local church.
